Travel Season西

Nanjing has a humid subtropical climate with plenty of rainfall. The average annual rainfall is 1,062 millimeters. From mid-June to the end of July is the season of Meiyu, during which the city experiences a period of mild rain as well as dampness. With the influence of East Asia Monsoon, Nanjing also has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons. In the spring of Nanjing, the plum-trees in Meihua Mountain are in full bloom while the Jimingsi Sakura being exceptionally charming at the same time. In the spring of Nanjing, the weather is relatively cool and each tree is a poem in itself.

In summer, temperatures range between 30 and 40 degrees, and often feel even hotter due to the high humidity. Nanjing becomes one of the three "furnace cities" along the Yangtze River, together with Wuhan and Chongqing. Though considered a southern city in China, Nanjing is cold and damp in winter with occasional snow.

The best time to visit Nanjing is during autumn, when the weather is cool and dry, which allows visitors to wander the streets and surrounding hills without dripping in sweat. And Osmanthus flowers are in full blossom in autumn, leaving sweet scents flowing all over.
